ROBERT JOHN SMITH FILES FOR GARLAND CITY COUNCIL, DISTRICT 8

Garland, Texas – Monday, February 13, 2017

Robert John Smith, long-time resident of Garland, former Parks Board member and precinct chair, filed for Garland City Council District 8 today at City Hall.

“I am honored to have an opportunity to serve the citizens of Garland once again. As a city board member, I gained tremendous insight into the day to day functions of city government. As a precinct chair, I was able to connect with my neighbors and represent their interests during district and state conventions. I hope to bring my experience from both positions in addition to my decade of state policy analysis work together to help guide Garland through the next two years.

My primary goal as a councilman is to represent the interests and needs of the residents of my district. This includes street repair, traffic management, the city budget, revitalization efforts and a reduction in crime. My second goal is to prioritize our budget in a way that ensures that there is always enough money for streets, emergency services and other core functions of city government.

I am excited about the campaign and the chance to meet with the citizens of Garland. I look forward to using my knowledge and experience to tackle our common challenges and keeping Garland as one of the best cities in Texas.”
